Step 10. 

Connect the RED wire from the battery holder to one of the terminals on the 1/8" mini jack. Connect a 6" piece of 22 gauge stranded wire (Radio Shack # 278-1224) to the other terminal on the mini jack as indicated by the red arrows in the photo.

! Note:  To make things easier to remember, use a piece of red wire.
