Introduction

The electronics of the Lightnin' Bug Lantern are straight forward and simple to adapt.  The function of the toy that will be adapted is the latching on and off switch on the face of the toy.

When the switch (the green circle with the lightning bug) on the front of the Lantern is pressed, the toy turns on.  A small light glows and "outdoor" sounds play. When the switch is pressed again, the toy turns off.

We will be adding a 1/8" mini jack and connecting wires to the switch. In total there is 1 hole to drill and 4 soldering events to complete the adaptation of this toy.

After the toy is adapted it will continue to work as it did before - except now it will be accessible to more children.

Don't worry, it sounds harder than it is!
